.: A playable record made from ice

Its not easy to have the coolest record ever.. just ask the show-offs, in 'The Shout Out Louds'.

They have released 'Blue Ice' as a limited edition of latex moulds - designed to be filled with distilled water, then frozen and played immediately by earnest nordic hipsters.

Then, I guess you mop up - and presumably throw out your [now ruined] turntable.
“One of the biggest challenges was that the bubbles made the ice cloudy and messed up the tiny tracks, which made the needle jump.” Further trial and error revealed that using distilled water did the trick, giving the final product a nice clarity and even surface. Another insight? Time is not, in fact, on your side when working with a frozen substance; functionality and sound quality diminish immediately once the melting starts. A silicone cast allowed for quick and easy record removal, essential to ensuring it could be used straight out of the freezer."

This is an hour and a half of a show I did near the end of 1999.
Just me and two technics, cranking away in the 2SER studio.

Enjoy.

.: The Vice Law of Cool: Square derivatives of the diminishing value of Cool. Socio-Thermodynamic Theory and Hipstanomic Application .

It's science time:
Science and Math.
(ok - some satire)

The experiment in the following video was conducted by the cutting-edge social technicians at Vice. (Vice Institute of Cool Extraction - Hipstanomics Dept).
It predictably demonstrates one of the fundamental laws of Cool.
(Cool being a value of social temperature).
Study of the theoretical values of  social temperature is known as the field of Socio-thermodynamics.
Its practical applications are known as Hipstanomics.

If  we say

Cool = C

then

C x C ≠ C²

Whenever the value of Cool is squared, the result will always be W

W = Wack

and as we know,
Wack is the inverse of Cool,
expressed here as

W = -C

therefore

C x C = W

or

C² = W

or simply

C² = -C

so we have proven that Cool to the power of Cool, cannot be anything other than the inverse of Cool itself. expressed in the video below as:

lightsaber x segway = Wack

[Nb: At the time of writing the cool value of a segway is negligible but measurable]

Vice lead the industry in deriving and extracting the value of Cool, and the huge amount of wealth involved, means only they can afford the technology required for this kind of research.
Therefore I propose we name this fundamental law of Socio-thermodynamics:

The Vice law of Diminishing Cool Values.

Bam!
Give me a fucking job.

In this video interview from WeAreChange, hip-hop legend KRS-1 expounds on 9/11, asking why the Zadroga Act isn’t providing more medical coverage for first responders, explaining how his South Bronx roots informed his experience and feelings about the day’s tragic events, and discussing his and other rappers’ skepticism of the mainstream media and its official take on the attacks. “I’ve been criticized in the past for not being as sensitive as I probably should be to the event itself, and that’s warranted,” he says. “I slept in the World Trade Center when I was homeless, back in ’83 to ’85…to the hood, the Trade Center looked like two horns in the sky. We didn’t have nothing to do with that building. We know that the wealth of the people was getting sucked into them two towers. That’s what we know”

.: Warrior Rituals EP

Arm yourselves with more of my unreleased techno tracks.
These were, pretty much, made by me - for me - to spin at outdoor techno parties, back in the day. [more about that soon - stay posted]

'Warrior Ritual', has been lying around in both it's forms for a while now, only seeing the light of day in Dj Manson sets, or on the occasional Cd I would burn to give away.

It sounds pretty good after 10 years of cellaring. -even if it was made using Fruity Loops 3, - and the remix is pretty much the same track 3 years later, just fed through my Micromoog - [in maximum tweakage mode]

The Micromoog is a raspy, brash analog mono-synth, like a meaner, black vinyl, trailer-trash cousin of the Minimoog .
I received as a gift, from a homeless man, who I met whilst sleeping out in a park - in Fitzroy, [This must have been around summer 95/96, on a Vibetribe 'road trip']
We got to talking about music. I think he used to do prog rock? He told me his bitch ex-wife had a garage full of his old synths. and if I came backto the park, the next day, same time - he would have something for me.
And he did. :]

True story.

- The video portrays and lends space to those otherwise ostracized by society - the hunted and discriminated. Drug addicts, crazies, prowlers and prostitutes have no place in society and few sympathise with them. These people are the biggest losers in history.

- We depicted them as animals of equal standing - crows, rodents and raccoons and transformed them into beautiful and powerful survivors.

What remains, forms the resources for the manifestation of an extra dimensional self/nonself/artwork/artist.

.: Doc - Underground Resistance

Underground Resistance is a label for a movement. A movement that wants change by sonic revolution. We urge you to join the resistance and help us combat the mediocre audio and visual programming that is being fed to the inhabitants of Earth, this programming is stagnating the minds of the people; building a wall between races and preventing world peace. It is this wall we are going to smash. By using the untapped energy potential of sound we are going to destroy this wall much the same as certain frequencies shatter glass. Techno is a music based in experimentation; it is music for the future of the human race. Without this music there will be no peace, no love, no vision. By simply communicating through sound, techno has brought people of all different nationalities together under one roof to enjoy themselves. Isn't it obvious that music and dance are the keys to the universe? So called primitive animals and tribal humans have known this for thousands of years! We urge all brothers and sisters of the underground to create and transmit their tones and frequencies no matter how so called primitive their equipment may be. Transmit these tones and wreak havoc on the programmers!

Simple but effective, Until.AM looks like a very promising project, all in all.
The application is cloud-based.& it runs in your browser [it can also play files from your HDD].
There is nothing to install, and you don't even need to log into Soundcloud.

.: Aidex '91

Over the last week, I am ashamed to say, I have been working on an international arms trade fair.
Right here in the middle of Sydney - at Darling Harbour.
Called the Pacific Maritime Expo, it didn't even seem to raise an eyebrow.

I wanted to walk out on the first day,
- walk out of an event that offends every one of the principles I so readily espouse.
But I found, in Sydney 2012, those principles are too expensive for people like me.
Living week to week, it seems I can no longer afford them.
Part of my soul has died.

It seemed none of my friends shared my outrage, as I ranted about the injustice, after my first day there.
Don't get passionate about something anymore, -you could be mistaken for a fanatic.
A terrorist.

Too gutless to try and sabotage the event when I had the chance.., as if I could..
Even if I knew how to make a bomb belt without killing myself [hard],
-and got it into the set up [easy],
I wouldn't come near to taking out any of the real scumbags,
I would have only taken out the contractors, working poor like me.

The whole thing was done low key, and at first we thought it was just a boat show,
But it soon became clear, this was a full on Naval Military Expo.
- the future is inhuman.
When I told the people around me what this event was really about
..all I got was blank stares.
